VanLadyLove hails from the small music hot bed of Provo, Utah. The band has opened for several national headliners and currently holds 6 placements on national television to date. They continue to make noise as their first EP “Love Matter” has reached national acclaim since its release last February.

I recently chatted with the 2014 Artist On The Verge about their influences, aspirations, and predictions for the future of the music industry.

NMS: When and what inspired you to start making music?

VanLadyLove: I have loved singing everywhere I go since I was a kid. In my kindergarten class we had a bathroom attached to the classroom and I would go in there and sing as loud as I could thinking nobody could hear me. I’ve known since I was a kid that this is what I am going to do for the rest of my life

Who are some of your influences?

Led zeppelin, U2, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the killers, Coldplay, kings of Leon

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your career?

I love being able to make a difference in somebody’s life. Whether that’s in our music, or a live performance, or a post we make on our social media. We just want to make a difference and make this world a better place.

What are you most excited about in the music business in the next 5, 10 years?

I am most excited about being able to do more by yourself. The music industry is changing so fast, these days you don’t need MTV to show your music video to the world, You just need YouTube. I think in the next 5-10 years there is going to be even more of that.

What advice do you have for artists just starting out?

Haters are going to hate! There’s always going to be someone that doesn’t like you or your music. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad music. Some people need something to hate on to make them feel better about themselves. Never give up and keep your head held high!
