Songwriter/Music Producer, Holly Knight/Good Knight Songs

Holly Knighthas had a wild 37-year ride in the music business that ignited when, in 1982, she met songwriter/producer Mike Chapman with her band Spider. Together, they penned Spiders single,"Better Be Good To Me", which music iconTina Turnerrecorded six months later on her 1984multi-platinum album,Private Dancer. It wona Grammy for Record of The Year. Knights meteoric rise to success continued as she penned iconic hits such as "Love Is A Battlefield"and"Invincible"forPat Benatar, "The Warrior" for Patty Smyth, "Change" for John Waite, "Baby Me"forChaka Khan,"Never"forHeart, and"Pleasure and Pain" for Divinyls. In total, she has written tensongs for Turner, including the hits: "The Best"and "In Your Wildest Dreams".Knights songs have appeared on records totaling over 530 million in record sales. A New York City native,Knightstarted studying classical piano at age four, continuing her studies for ten years. Even at a young age she recognized what mattered most to her her love of music. By the time she reached her teens she was performing classical recitals byday, andsneaking out of the house at night to see rock bands perform. I loved the elegance and grace of classical music, but I was also drawn to the outrageous lifestyle and rebelliousness of rock and roll. They both suited my personality, but rock music proved to be more of a creative outlet for me, something I was looking for where I could scream from the rooftops, and the louder the better. So scream from the rooftops she did. At 18, she played keyboards on Kiss's Unmasked record, while at the same time recording her first record with Spider.
Holly continued writing hits such as,"Love Touch" for Rod Stewart,"Obsession"forAnimotion, "Hide Your Heart" for Kiss, "Rag Doll"withAerosmith,"Space"forCheap Trick, and many more. Her songs have appeared in movies as varied asThelma and Louise, Mad Max Beyond The Thunderdome, Stewart Little, Thirteen Going On Thirty,What The Bleep,Hot Tub Fantasy,Anchorman ll, Dallas Buyers Club and The Other Woman. Additionally, her songs are found on numerousTV shows such asAmerican Idol, The Voice, 30 Rock, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Oprah Winfrey, Nip Tuck, South Park,(and most recently)Glee,The Mysteries Of Laura,Necessary Roughness, andThe Following. In 2002, Holly produced and co-wrote the title theme song for the hugely popular cult TV show,Angel. She then went on to write and produce the title theme song for the CBS hit sitcom,Still Standing, which received anASCAP award for one of the top TV music themes of 2003, and again in 2004. Holly remains as passionate, and driven by her love of music, as she was in her early twenties. We all know that the music business has changed drastically from what it used to be. What this calls for is a new plan, and a redefining of how to get the music out there. There are several projects I am working on right now. One is a Broadway musical,in particular, that is veryclose to my heart an edgy, rock musical featuring 20 of my songs, all of them recognizable hits along with one or two new ones, and a great storyline to pull it all together. Im really excited to be doing all this. Holly continues to write songs, in fact, this summer she is teaching two master songwriting classes in Los Angeles.
