President, Round Hill Music

Headquartered in New York, Round Hill Music was founded in 2011 as a full service music publisher and creative rights management company. RHM brings together a seasoned team of music publishing and investment professionals, and owns/administers music recorded by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Aerosmith, Steve Perry, Chaka Khan, Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Barbra Streisand, Bruno Mars, American Authors, Civil Twilight, and Katy Perry, among others. Pre-RHM, Neil was the president and global head creative for S1 Songs America. Earlier in his career he was the GM (East Coast) for the Concord Music Group (CMG). At CMG, he helped establish a New York presence for the company while also assisting in many aspects of their business operations, including bringing their music to Madison Avenue and certain film and TV clients, solidifying strategic partnerships, and assisting with the creative aspects of International Licensing. Before Concord, Neil was with Warner/Chappell Music (WCM) for sixteen years, the final five of which he spent as SVP of Creative Music Solutions. In this capacity, Neil brought the companys massive catalog to the advertising and video game communities, worked on East Coast-based film/TV projects, signed writers and catalogs, developed artists, and established improved creative business connections to many of the most important catalogs and writers within the WCM family. During the first eleven years of his WCM tenure (as VP of copyright / licensing) he managed most of the day-to-day operating areas of the company. Previously, Neil worked for Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) as their head of International. In addition to his work in the industry, he has been a successful educator; teaching at UCLA Extension for many years, holding a recent Adjunct Professor post at Nassau Community College, and lecturing at UCLA, USC, Baruch College, Berklee College of Music, University of the Pacific, NYU, Hofstra University, The Liverpool Institute, etc. Neil also penned the business column in Performing Songwriter during the early 90s and has made contributions to many industry books; including Bobby Borgs "The Musicians Handbook" (Billboard Books). Mr. Gillis is an active musician, as both a classically-trained french horn player, and as jazz-trained guitarist. He is composer of countless contributions to television shows and cartoons. Neil is a board member of the NMPA, BMI Foundation, the New York Chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), Johnny Mercer Foundation, and a member of BMI, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Musicians Union Local 802.
