May 21, 2013 (NYC) – Philly-based rockers Cold Fronts officially signed with Warner Bros./Sire Records Tuesday in NYC.  The band’s raw, gritty garage-rock sound and irrestibly catchy hooks have recently landed them on everyone’s radar for 2013 – including New Music Seminar.

Less than a month ago, NMS named Cold Fronts part of their 2013 ‘Artists On The Verge’ (AOV) Top 100 Chart. The list is comprised of the 100 most emerging U.S. talents which the industry believes are about to break out. Cold Fronts proves NMS thoroughly understands both the business and art of music, as well as the industry, by accurately assessing new artists and their potential to have a future in the industry.  The band’s buzz has surged in only a few weeks and as of last week have signed a record deal, booked a national tour, and are working on a new album with Kyle Slick Johnson (the Hives, Wavves, Modest Mouse).

Comprised of Craig Almquist, Al Smith, and two rotating members, Cold Fronts is bursting with pure talent but recently luck has played a large role in their success. After playing an unofficial show during SXSW 2012, the band played an impromptu show next to a hot dog stand. As they played, a large crowd formed and within them was Seymour Stein, the Vice President of Warner Bros. Records/Founder of Sire Records. Stein took interest to the band and asked for a CD to take with. Shortly after, Stein contact Cold Fronts to begin the initial discussion of a record deal which would be made official in May 2013.

Formed in 2010, Cold Fronts started performing shows at Philly’s infamous DIY show space Rathaus (also know as the Rat or as the Philadelphia press referred to it “Satan’s dorm room”). In 2012 the band released their debut EP Pretty American and already played support to several well-known artists including: mewithoutYou, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Vacationer, Free Energy, The Morning Benders, and more. Their most recent release “Know It All” was recorded early 2013 at Converse’s Rubber Track Studio in Brooklyn.

All of the Cold Front’s music is available to stream in full for free on their site here.

New Music Seminar accurately selected Cold Fronts as an up and coming new talent likely to break big and it is no doubt that several other 2013 AOV Top 100 artists will follow their lead. Be sure to check out the other AOV Top 100 artists for the ‘Class of 2013’ hand-selected by New Music Seminar! View the full AOV Top 100 Chart ‘Class of 2013’ here.

Cold Fronts will be performing at NYC’s Cake Shop June 11 (Tuesday) along with fellow AOV artists Cambatta and DownBeat Keys as part of the NMS New York Music Festival (NYMF). NYMF will take place June 10 and 11 in various venues throughout NYC’s Lower East Side, including international showcases, AOV artist performances, and more, click here to see the full NYMF schedule.
